After applying for a Summer Academic Experience course

• Upload your Mutual Responsibilities Agreement and your Photographic Release Form

  You will receive an email with instructions to upload your Mutual Responsibilities Agreement (PDF)  and your Photographic release form (PDF) via the applicant portal. Please check your email regularly.

  You have two weeks, from the day you receive your conditional offer, to upload your documents.

• Pay your deposit

  You must pay a deposit of £500 within two weeks of receiving your conditional offer, or by 1 April 2024, whichever is sooner.

  Have your student identity (ID) number at hand as you will need to provide it to make a payment. Your ID number is the nine-digit number in your offer letter.

  Paying your deposit by bank transfer

  If payment is made on behalf of a student (for example, a parent or guardian), the payer will also be required to complete their own information. Accurate information ensures that the funds you transfer are allocated promptly to the correct account at the University of St Andrews.

  1. Complete the online form. Tick the 'Include' box for the 'Summer Academic Experience deposit’.
  2. You will then receive an email confirming the details you need to pass onto your bank, including a reference number.
  3. Contact your bank with these details, by phone or in-person.
  4. The bank will then transfer the money to Western Union within your home country and currency.

  Paying your deposit by credit card

  1. Go to the University's online payment web page.
  2. Complete the 'Student Details' section.
  3. Read through and tick the box to accept the University's terms and conditions.
  4. Confirm who is paying the fees (yourself, an agent a parent, etc.)
  5. Choose 'International Education Institute/Summer Academic Experience Course deposit’ and enter the amount you are paying.

• Pay the balance of your fees

  The balance of fees of £5,500 must be paid within four weeks of the unconditional offer or before Monday 1 April 2024, whichever is sooner.

  Have your student identity (ID) number at hand as you will need to provide it to make a payment. Your ID number is the nine-digit number in your offer letter.

  Paying your balance by bank transfer

• Apply for a visa

  Students who will require a visa should begin their visa application only once they have received an unconditional offer.

  International students and EU/EEA/Swiss nationals without settled or pre-settled status who will study in the United Kingdom (UK) for less than six months will be issued with a letter of support from the University of St Andrews, which you should use when entering the UK as a short-term study student. The University will issue a letter of support to you once you have accepted your offer of a place. ‘Visa nationals’ will be required to apply for a Standard Visitor visa prior to entering the UK. • Open your computer account

  From March onwards and after paying your balance, you will receive an entrant email. Keep checking your email regularly. When you receive the entrant email, open your computer account and activate your University email.

  Your University email address is yourusername@st-andrews.ac.uk. Your username is included in your entrant email and should always be lowercase. You will create your password when you open your account. 

  Once you have opened your email account, you will be able to access it using Office 365. We will use this account to contact you, so please check your University email at least every 48 hours.

• Apply for your student ID (matriculation) card

  When you receive the entrant email, please apply for your student ID (matriculation) card as soon as possible to allow time for it to be produced ready for your arrival. Your card is also your library borrowing card and will give you access to University buildings, such as the open-access computer classrooms.

• Complete the health information and transport form

  You must complete the health information and transport form by Monday 1 July 2024.

  Food and allergies

  We can accommodate most food allergies in all halls. Students with uncommon and severe allergies can also be catered for, with some exceptions specific to each case. Catered residences provide a vegetarian option at each meal. If you have a food allergy or a specific dietary requirement such as a peanut allergy or coeliac, you should email summerstudy@st-andrews.ac.uk quoting your student ID number, and be sure to detail the allergies on the health information and transport form by Monday 1 July 2024.
