St Regulus Hall

St Regulus Hall, nicknamed ‘Regs’ by its residents, is a charming and historical Victorian building located in a quiet area close to the centre of town.

Hall information

St Regulus Hall is a catered standard hall of residence. Rooms are situated along corridors, and each corridor contains a number of showers and bathrooms. There are also shared kitchen facilities located throughout the residence for students to make their own light snacks.

The majority of rooms are shared bed spaces for entrant undergraduate students. Find out about sharing at St Andrews

Proposed Development 2024-25

A current feasibility study is under way for plans to upgrade the main kitchen and improve social spaces in the main hall. This may involve some inconvenience for the residents should the planned work start during the academic session.

All details will be provided in due course.

For undergraduate students, St Regulus Hall has:

  • 98 single standard rooms with single bed size
  • 76 shared bed spaces with single bed size
  • 2 shared bed spaces in en suite room with single bed size

Location

St Regulus Hall is located in a quiet area directly next to St Mary’s Quadrangle and several other Arts buildings. It is less than a five-minute walk to the centre of town and only a 20-minute walk to the North Haugh where the various Science buildings are located.

What is St Regulus Hall like?

St Regulus Hall is one of the smallest of the undergraduate halls and has a tight-knit and friendly community.

The hall hosts regular formal dinners in which all residents eat together in the charming dining hall and then move on for coffee and chat in the library.

The student committee organises a variety of events throughout the year, including hall parties, karaoke nights, quizzes, and two annual hall balls (one at Christmas and one in May).

The wardens host frequent wine and cheese nights in the library so students can get to know their wardens better in a relaxed environment. Students are encouraged to dress in their academic gowns for these events.

Facilities

St Regulus Hall offers various facilities for students to use for studying or socialising.

Laundry

There are two laundry rooms: one in the main building (three washers and three dryers) and one in the annexe (one washer and one dryer). The washers and dryers are card-operated. You can buy a card from the card dispensers opposite reception or in the annexe laundry room which you pre-load with credit via an online portal.

Common rooms

The main common room has sofas and a TV, so you can relax with your friends here. There is also a games room with a pool table.

Computer room

St Regulus Hall has an IT suite with six computers which students are able to access at all hours.

Library

The library provides a quiet place for you to study, work on group projects, or even take a turn at the piano. You can also check out a wide variety of books donated by former students by speaking with the committee librarian.
