Accommodation for visiting postgraduates

Postgraduate students from other institutions who are visiting St Andrews, either for a short research visit or an extended stay, can apply for University accommodation under a temporary contract.

For the best chance of getting University accommodation, visiting postgraduate students should plan to arrive for Semester 2, which starts at the end of January.

University accommodation

Most visiting postgraduate accommodations are based at David Russell Apartments.

Leases are given for a single en suite room within a self-catered five-bedroom apartment in which you share the kitchen and living area with four other residents.

The cost of the accommodation includes:

  • heating (at set times)
  • lighting
  • internet connection.

Accommodation fees do not include VAT or council tax, if applicable.

The University does not provide bedding, crockery or cutlery. Visitors will therefore need to make their own arrangements to provide a double duvet, pillows and linen, and any personal crockery and cutlery. If you would like to purchase bedding, towels and cutlery, visit UniKitOut.

Tenants are responsible for cleaning their rooms and communal areas within the apartment.
