• University-owned accommodation

  There are flats suitable for couples within University-owned accommodation.

  David Russell Apartments and Fife Park Apartments

  DRA and Fife Park together have 63 self-contained studio flats which comprise:

  • furnished study bedroom with a double bed
  • kitchen recess with basic utensils and facilities
  • en suite shower and toilet.

  Accommodation fees for 2023/24 Fees include:

  • heat (at set times)
  • light and power
  • data connection.

  Facilities at DRA and Fife Park include:

  • bistro
  • bar
  • laundry

• University-managed accommodation

  The University manages several properties located in St Andrews which are suitable for couples or families.

  These properties vary in size from self-contained flats with one bedroom to houses with three bedrooms. Due to the demand for family accommodation, the University will not offer accommodation which is larger than necessary (for example, the University will not offer a two-bedroom property to a couple).

  All managed properties have either gas or electric central heating.

  Leases for managed properties are for a fixed period and normally run from either June or early September until early June or the end of August the following year.

  Average rents for University-managed accommodation are:

  • One-bedroom property: £852 per month
  • Two-bedroom property: £970 per month
  • Three-bedroom property: £1055 per month
  • Four-bedroom property: £1142 per month.

  Rent for University-managed accommodation excludes services (i.e. gas, electricity, telephone, internet and council tax if applicable. Rent prices are indicative and are reviewed annually).

• Private accommodation

  There are a number of property agents in St Andrews who let properties on behalf of owners; these agents maintain their own waiting lists.

• Public housing

  Government-owned public housing has lengthy waiting lists, and the local housing authority cannot normally assist students with housing. Students should be aware that they are unlikely to be housed by the local authority if they leave their current accommodation, whether in the UK or overseas, without first arranging secure accommodation in the St Andrews area, and then face homelessness as a result.
