How to apply for a visa

Before you apply, you should first establish which type of visa you need. Whether or not you need a visa, and the type of visa you require will depend on your nationality and the length of your course of study.

Once you have established which type of visa you need, you will need to make sure you apply by the correct deadlines and include all relevant supporting documents.

Standard visitor visas

For students who are studying in the UK for six months or less and need to apply for a Standard visitor visa.

Student visas

For students who are studying in the UK for more than six months and need to apply for a Student visa.

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

You must receive your CAS number from the University before you can apply for a Student visa.
