Postgraduate courses

The International Education Institute provides two strands of postgraduate programmes – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and International Education.

Our TESOL programmes are designed for postgraduate students who are interested in the teaching and assessment of English language, while our International Education programmes are designed to give students an understanding of the leadership, management and administrative issues involved in schools, universities, education-facing NGOs and similar organisations operating in international contexts.

Both of our strands are available as MSc, PGDip and PGCert options, both on-campus and online, and both with September and January entry options. We also offer one DProf course – Doctor of Professional Practice in TESOL.

Scholarships are also available for a variety of applicants, including those with refugee or asylum seeker status, humanitarian protection, or those seeking sanctuary. Full details are available on the Scholarship Page.

Academic English Service (AES)

Students who use English as a second or additional language can sign up to AES, for free. The service offers language support to undergraduate and postgraduate students, through a combination of tutorials, workshops and online resources. Schools which may need language development provision for groups of students should contact academicenglish@st-andrews.ac.uk to request a meeting.

The awards promote the achievements of students on UK Masters programmes for work with the best potential for impact on policy and practice in English Language Teaching.
