Guidance for research involving animals

The University of St Andrews carries out research with animals some of which falls under the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA), 1986. Research is not regulated under ASPA if the impact is below a threshold that requires Home Office permissions or the research is conducted outwith the UK. For questions about Home Office thresholds or non-ASPA versus ASPA research, please contact your School ethics committee or the Home Office liaison contact (holo@st-andrews.ac.uk).
