School of Modern Languages welcomes Professor Shelleen Greene as Global Fellow

Shelleen Greene - portraitThe School of Modern Languages is delighted to host Professor Shelleen Greene as Global Fellow at the University of St Andrews for the month of February 2024. Dr Greene is an associate professor of Cinema and Media Studies in the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was the 2020-21 Fulbright Distinguished Chair at the University of Leeds. Her research interests include Italian cinema, Black European studies, and Black Digital Studies. Her book, Equivocal Subjects: Between Italy and Africa – Constructions of Racial and National Identity in the Italian Cinema (Bloomsbury/Continuum, 2012), examines the relation between racial discourse and the Italian national cinema. Her recent work has appeared in Italian Culture, Feminist Media Histories, California Italian Studies, the African American Review, and the Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies. 

In the course of her visit, Dr Greene will be interacting with staff and students across the School and the University. Full details of her schedule will be posted soon.
