For entry in September 2024. Two scholarships each of £5,000 are available towards tuition fees.

Eligible programmes – any of the School of Divinity MLitt programmes.

Geographical criteria. We may give preference to applicants from Developing economies as defined by the United Nations - Table C of this document.

Additional criteria

In making decisions about the award of the scholarship, we will give consideration to a variety of criteria, including, but not limited to the following:

  • We may give preference to applicants who self-identify as members of excluded or under-represented minorities.
  • We may give preference to applicants who are historically underrepresented in theology or biblical studies (students from ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, women, students who are the first in their family to attend university).
  • We may give preference to applicants from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • We may give preference to applicants who can demonstrate a household income of less than £34,000.

As part of the application you will be asked to provide a personal statement, in which you may want to say how your application relates to these criteria, and/or provide other details in support of your application.

This scholarship is available for application through the Scholarships and Funding catalogue.

To apply for this scholarship you need to access Scholarships and Funding through My Application after you have applied for your preferred MLitt programme.  You should wait until the next working day after submission before attempting to access My Application. You do not need to wait for an offer of a place on your preferred programme before applying for a scholarship. You must apply for this scholarship before the scholarship closing date (as below) although the closing dates for applications to MLitt programmes is often later.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

Applicants should expect to hear by end of March 2024.
