Research

The University of St Andrews offers a unique environment in which interdisciplinary research can flourish, supported by the intensive performance culture of the Music Centre.

The research interests of resident Music Centre staff are enhanced by their working alongside a dedicated team of professional associate musicians, Honorary professors, and frequent visits from a range of internationally renowned performers and ensembles.

Facilities including the Byre Theatre, the Laidlaw Music Centre, and the University’s chapels provide a range of performance platforms.

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Music research at the University of St Andrews is complemented by a close relationship with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland: since 2000 the University has awarded and validated research degrees awards made by the RCS. Students and staff from both institutions frequently collaborate in performances and associated research seminars.
