Graduate School Away day 2024

26 April 2024

The first Graduate School Away Day was held at Cambo Gardens, just outside of Kingsbarns, on 25 April 2024.  In the morning there were presentations on two creative and engaging interdisciplinary research projects from cross-programme groups formed as part of the Interdisciplinary Research Methods module (GD5996).  Students from Gender Studies, Global Social and Political Thought, and Sustainable Development spoke about their work on "Trust: the rise of non-state political actors and the distrust of public institutions" and "Gender-sensitive urban planning".  Following lunch (and for some, a walk to the nearby beach) there was an interactive workshop facilitated by Dr Laura Meagher exploring "Interdisciplinarity: career considerations and making collaborations work".  The day finished with a discussion over coffee on the opportunities and challenges of generative AI in higher education and the future of work.
