Adapting to Climate Change and Managing Health Crises

The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of the Hellenic Republic and former European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management (2014 to 2019), Dr Christos Stylianides, delivered a public lecture on Monday 20 November 2023.

The lecture expanded on effective crisis management strategies to tackle climate change. The Minister also offered a masterclass to the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Studies MLitt students under the title "Navigating Health Crises: Insights from Ebola and Covid-19". Both events were well-attended by staff and students of the GSIS and members of the University and the public.

The public lecture was followed by a dinner at which Professor Stephen Gethins, Strategic Adviser to the Principal on External Relations, had the chance to present gifts to the Minister and his Head of Cabinet, Mr Ilias Prevezas, on behalf of the Principal.

The two events were organised by the Director of the GSIS, Dr Morven Shearer, and the co-Director of the GSIS MLitt programme on Global Social and Political Thought, Dr Vassilios Paipais.
