You will also be expected to attend college and pass the desired trades competence test during your apprenticeship.

  • Electrician
  • Gardener
  • Gas and heating engineer
  • Grounds person (sports surfaces)
  • Joiner
  • Painter

Eligibility

You should have obtained or are currently seeking to obtain Credit/General level standard grades or equivalent.

Each trade area has its own education and qualification requirements. Please see the vacancies listings above for further details.

The University is an Equal Opportunities employer, and we would particularly welcome applications from women and ethnic minorities who are underrepresented in this role.

How to apply

The Estates department recruits apprentices every other year. You should apply online through our vacancies system. If you are unable to do this, you can call +44 (0)1334 46 2571 for a paper application form.

If you wish to apply for more than one apprenticeship, you should complete a separate application form for each post and quote the reference number.

After you apply

If your application is successful, you will be invited to take a practical and written skills test related to your relevant trade. The test takes around two to three hours and will be used to shortlist candidates.

If you are shortlisted, you will then be invited to attend an interview.
