Associate Provost Students

The Associate Provost Students is responsible for research postgraduate learning and teaching matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advice on policy or regulatory development on all postgraduate matters.
  • Overseeing postgraduate taught advising and considering requests from taught postgraduates for late module changes and variations from programme requirements
  • Approval of module results (for taught master’s students).
  • Signposting students and staff to matters regarding academic and non-academic misconduct.
  • Management of viva examination standards, process exceptions, and approval of outcomes (including PGR examination reports).
  • Resolution of serious postgraduate student matters related to changes of circumstance: change of registration, deferrals beyond the reporting deadline, extensions, leave of absence, discounted time, and termination of studies.

Dr Charles Warren

The current Associate Provost Students is Dr Charles Warren

Dr Charles Warren - Associate Provost Education

Charles is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Geography and Sustainable Development. In the early part of his career his research focused on glaciers and climate change, but now his research and teaching interests lie in the field of environmental management and policy. He has published widely, and is the author and editor of several books, including Managing Scotland's Environment.

He was instrumental in the establishment of the university's degree programmes in Sustainable Development, and is the Co-Editor of the Scottish Geographical Journal.

He is married with two children, and also loves the company of mountains.
